In 2008 Girum Mezmer founded the Addis Acoustic Project: Their repertoire focuses on the Ethiopian music of the 1950s and 60s unlike the “ethiopique series” which focus on the ethiopian pop music of the late 60s and 70s which it calls the 'golden days of Ethiopian music'.
